Woody New
West Penwith’s Woody New grew up in sight of the sea between Cornwall’s north and south coasts, within striking distance of some of the South West’s best waves, and it shows. If it’s on in West Cornwall, then you’ll find Woody sitting deep and going on the bombs, and it’s this consistency and his ability to thread a tube and boot an air off the end section that’s earned him the respect of his peers. In between getting barrelled, Woody’s fresh off the back of a Marine and Natural History Photography degree at Falmouth and a seasonal lifeguarding gig, and you’ll often see his name on club night posters. For somebody with so much going on, Woody tends to let his surfing and photography do the talking. He gets on with it, goes on the mean-looking ones, and then paddles back out for another.
